To All FGP, RSVP and SCP Project Directors, staff, volunteers and friends:

URGENT
Senior Corps U.S. Senate Call IN

  

The  House Appropriations Committee  has completed their recommendation to fund Senior Corps Programs in 2008 at the 2007 funding level (without cuts to FGP and SCP).

 

On Tuesday, June 19th, the Senate will be making their recommendation for funding.

 

Join your fellow Senior Corps directors, staff and friends by making a quick phone call to each of your U.S. Senators between 9:00 am and 4 pm EST on Monday, June18, 2007.

 

To find your Senator's Washington DC office's  toll free number go to: www.senate.gov. Once you locate the number, please put it in your Contact List along with the contact information for your U.S. Representatives as well.

 

Simply share this message with the staff person who answers the phone in your Senators' office.

 

MESSAGE:

 

If you are a director, staff or program friend:

 

I am calling to thank Senator _____for supporting the Foster Grandparent Program, RSVP and the Senior Companion Programs. We ask that (he/she)  contact members of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee and urge them to support increased funding the Senior Corps, specifically $52 million  for the Senior Companion Programs, $116 million for FGP and 66million for RSVP in FY 2008 funding.

 

If you are a FGP, RSVP and SCP volunteer:

 

I'm a (Foster Grandparent, RSVP volunteer, Senior Companions) from ___________. Thank you for continuing to support our program.

 

The more calls, the stronger our message will be. Please e-mail this to community partners, site supervisors, Board and Advisory Council members, co-workers, family and friends who know about your program(s) and appreciate the remarkable service of Senior Corps volunteers!

 

NARSVPD and NAFGPD members: we invite you to please join us on Monday, June 18th  for the Senate Call In.  We are stronger together!

 

Thank you for taking only 5 minutes on June 18h to make this important call to your U.S. Senators.

 

Note: for Senior Corps staff - calls must be made when you are "off the clock" (i.e. break, lunch hour, etc.)
